Bobbi had always wanted to find Mr. Right. But, as a young, independent woman in her late 20's, Hollywood was probably not the right place to find him, especially in the 1950's. Just when she thinks she's found her Prince Charming, she gets involved in something sinister. Bodies are appearing all over town, and if she doesn't figure it out, she'll be the next murder victim...on the Boulevard.

This is the first novel for Kori Donahue, independently published, and all I can say is that there are reasons manuscripts are returned and some writers don't have agents and publishers with editors. This novel reads like a B-list made-for-TV movie from the '60s. It's set in Hollywood during the 1940s but the characters are all caricatures instead. The writing isn't just amateur it is immature. Any research of the era is completely lacking in attitudes and terminologies. In some cases the grammar is just plain wrong. Since Ms. Donahue is an English teacher in her "day job" this is inexcusable. The story is about bubble headed Bobbi, a floozy, who gets herself into trouble with bad guys who all call women "baby" in every sentence. Enter the detectives who talk like they're in a nightmarish version of Dragnet and they all call women "baby" in every sentence. They are trying to solve a case involving a serial killer. In the midst of all the bad guys and crimes with unbelievably convenient "clues" turning up, we get high school style I-can't-live-without-you-even-though-I've-only-known-you-for-an-hour romance. To top it off there is a weird and detached turn the last couple of chapters that, it turns out, is put there for a "to be continued..." at the end. Ah, yes...just like those bad TV shows from the '60s. "Will he be caught? Will she be hospitalized? Tune in next time to find out!" No thanks...once was enough.I read this book because I read about it on a blog and it sounded good. I usually rely on Amazon reader reviews but on this book most of them would have let me down too.

Murder On The Boulevard Kori Donahue 9780615484655 Books Reviews
I bought this book for my kindle app and was afraid of how badly my eyes would hurt after reading an entire novel. My eyes kept wanting more and more and more! Instead of sleeping, I read! I finished the novel in a day and a half and was left with an itch for Kori Donahue's next in line. Hope it's coming, soon! GREAT read!
I "met" Kori on Twitter and so of course I had to support her by buying her first book. I am glad that I did. Not being the normal type books I read I was not knowing what to expect. What I found was an easy, quick moving story that kept my light on late at night reading, and could not wait to see what would happen next. A very enjoyable read indeed.
I bought this book at the same time I was graduating and moving to my summer home and let me tell you all of that was hard considering I never wanted to put this book down! I "met" Kori through her blog and twitter and she has never disappointed! She is such a sweet person and the time and energy she put into this book is seen throughout every page! She was able to create a visual image of each character and play out the scenes vividly and I read a ton of books but none quite have the power that this one did. I highly recommend this book for others and can't wait to get the actual book in hand to add to my ebook!
Read this book in one day, could not put it down. The end made me a little upset when I realized the book was not going to go on......that what I was reading was a taste of what Kori's next novel will be about. A tease at the end, good idea. Can't wait to read more from this author!!! G. Gousha
Unpredictable, if I could use one word that would be it. I can almost ALWAYS predict what the ending of a book will be, I'll still enjoying reading how they get to that ending, but I know what it will be just the same. This book is the first in a long time that kept me suprised and guessing! Great Read! )
Loved the creative writing!
This is the worst book I have ever read. The story is disjointed and all of the characters seem artificial. The main character is inhumanly air headed and floats around on a cloud of the most poorly written romance in literary history. The side characters are stiff and would be incapable of conversation if you removed the word "Babe" from their vocabulary. My summary opinion of the book is that it is cheap, very poorly written and is a reminder of why we need publishers.
